Mamas is a group of women living in the North East-based but of international, mainly African heritage, whose aim is to work towards raising awareness about social injustices against women and children locally and globally. We advocate for the empowerment, protection, and creation of sustainable programs to help women and children through visual art, music, and social justice education.
We bring together the various disadvantaged/marginalised communities and the British communities in the North East in providing talks, events, coffee mornings and addressing any health and integration issues that is particular to women, and to promote self-confidence and empower women and young girls from BME in working on their transferable knowledge and skills by promoting cultural and traditional activities, workshop and coffee mornings.
