"ROCKIN' ROOTS, COUNTRY & BLUES" MUSIC IN NEWCASTLE
For over 25 years, the Jumpin' Hot Club and its founders, Graham"Shippy" Anderson and Adam Collerton have been men with a mission to bring the best of the Country,Blues, Rock n Roll, Songsters, Reggae/Ska – in fact any kinda Roots music to a stage somewhere near you. The Club first opened for business in the cellar room of Newcastle's Bridge Hotel way back in 1985. Todays it's Cluny 2 Theatre for the more acoustic performers, The Cluny for the more rollocking acts, Gateshead Caedmon Hall for a smart show, , Live Theatre for a classy intimate show with The Studio on Live T's 3rd floor for the really small gig & Gateshead Central for a small show with a nice cosy vibe.
We organize & promote the 7 year old Americana SummerTyne Festival, held at Sage Gateshead in July, which we help co- organize & run the 3 day Outdoor Stage, we also programme @ The Evolution Festival .
Finally…. We also book , the 9 year old Boss Sounds Reggae Festival which has had just about all the biggest names in Reggae music.
Over the years performers have included the likes of Odetta, , The Abbyssinians, Toots And Maytals, Byron Lee, Rico, Horace Andy and Dennis Alcapone, the palm wine music of Sierra Leone’s SE Rogie and veteran Malian performer Boubacar Traore.
