Visual artist Paul Hardcastle from Brampton, Cumbria has lived and worked in Africa, and the materials, landscape and peoples of the continent profoundly influence much of his work.
Paul says “Blending sculptural and figurative relief into tiles, batiks, murals and mosaic is a joy. Rich colours and surface texture, vibrant design and a sense of scale all have their part to play.”

Paul co-curated our exhibition at Newcastle Arts Centre in May/June 2013, and is curator of our Black History Month exhibition at Newcastle City Library, October 2013.
